Building Surveyor (12 Month FTC)
Description
RLB have been appointed to undertake condition surveys for the Department for Education, covering 7300 properties across England over 5 years. The commission is one of the largest of its kind ever undertaken across Europe and follows on from the success of its predecessor commission, to which RLB were also appointed.
We are currently recruiting a Building Surveyor to join a client focused team within the South Central/South West region. This is an exciting opportunity for a high caliber individual to join and strengthen our team.
The role involves visual assessment of building fabric condition, with data captured live on site via a tablet application.
Person Specification:
The ideal candidate will demonstrate a positive proactive approach to the role, and will be committed to delivering customer service excellence, with good commercial results.
- Degree qualified in Building Surveying or similar technical discipline
- Health & Safety experience or training is essential
- Experience in CDM
- NEBOSH
- Good understanding of JCT Contracts
- Strong technical delivery experience
- MRICS or membership relevant to a professional body
- Strong track record in project management of projects from inception to completion
- Track record of working with stakeholders
- Client facing, ensuring a high standard of technical delivery
- Able to build long-term relationships
- A track record of working with teams and managing projects by prioritising workloads and delivering deadlines
- A team player, outgoing, flexible, enthusiastic and ambitious
Personal Specific Requirements
- Require 3 years’ post qualification experience assessing building element condition.
- For resources without formal qualifications, relevant experience must be evidenced detailing features that are aligned with the competencies required for this commission and timescales of the project/commissions, the scale of the project/commission and the individual’s role in service delivery.
- Enhanced DBS Clearance (can be undertaken on successful application).
- IT literate and capability to use tablet-based data collection technologies.
- Ability to travel nationally/ able to stay away for short periods – although majority of sites aim be chosen within 60 a mile radius of a candidates residency
- Own transport & driving licence
- Experience with Asset Management surveys, Condition surveys & Lifecycle Reports
Desirable
- Experience of working across the educational estate, PDS or CDC1 commissions.
